Water sports and related things to do in Puerto Vallarta
Due to its excellent location deep inside the Banderas bay Puerto Vallarta and surrounding locations provide excellent conditions for watersports. At the beach many offers including jet ski and banana riding are provided, but well organized sport trips or excursions make specialized sport adventures available. For deep sea fishing we have an extra category as it is one of the most important water sport activities around.
For friends of snorkeling several tours to secret beaches or the Marietta islands provide access to the beautifullest areas, where the tourist can observe colorful fish and waterplants.
Surfing is a famous activity at the northern part of the bay. The most interesting area where surfers and families as well find full service is the village of Sayulita at the northern tip, 5 minutes after Punta de Mita.
Kite boarding is still a newer sport but tournaments already take place close to Nuevo Vallarta. Schools provide classes and equipment for the advanced kite boarder.
Diving is one of the oldest activities in Puerto Vallarta. Famous dive schools and tour operators provide trips to the most interesting places. Equipment and charters for scuba diving friends are available as well.
Some hotels offer this nice activity and kayaking is part of many tours. In Nuevo Vallarta and the northern part of the bay Kayaking is very commun. In the south tourists can enjoy kayaking as well, most as part of fun tours or day trips.
With three marinas in the Banderas Bay sailors find excellent circumstances to enjoy this excellent sport. Sailing tours are as well provided as sailing boat charters. Tournaments and challanges take place yearly.
