Puerto Vallarta City Travel Tips
- Leave expensive jewelry and belongings at home - Then you can spend more time enjoying your vacation and less time watching your belongings.
- You can use your bank card at almost any bank machine in town and take out National Money (Pesos) For your own safety and convenience it is always best to use a bank machine that is attached to an actual bank, on the remote chance the machine eats the card, you can get it back by going inside the bank. A retrieved bank card is better than a lost one.
- Banks are the cheapest place to exchange dollars, but the long lineups make using the bank machine or an exchange house (casa de cambio) for a few cents more, more attractive.
- Most service attendants work solely on or close to solely on tips. Don’t forget to tip your maid, bag boy at the grocery store, waiter, gas station attendant etc..
- The bus is a great way to travel around and see the city, the fare is 4.5 pesos and there are no transfers.
- Ask your taxi driver the price of the trip before you go. You can find current taxi rates posted in your hotel lobby.
- Although Credit Cards are widely accepted, it is best to ask before eating, shopping..not all business take them.
- If you are a laptop user, there is plenty of wireless and internet access. You can find it in all neighborhoods and even on the beach.
- It is absolutely safe to wander and explore around town. Puerto Vallarta is one of the safest cities on the west coast. Residents are friendly and very helpful. Use your common sense, don’t wander around lonely streets and the beach after dark.
