Puerto Vallarta City Highlights
Nestled at the base of the Sierra
Madre mountain range on the pacific coast of Mexico
along Banderas Bay, Puerto Vallarta is in the northwest
corner of the state of Jalisco. This is tequila country.
The city and area is rich with coast and wildlife; You
can find humpback whales in the winter. Dolphins, sea lions, mantas, sea turtles,
octopus, and many other species of birds, reptiles and
mammals all call Puerto Vallarta home.

The Cathedral of Guadalupe |

One of
the most famous landmarks in town. The crown
on the top of the church has become an international
symbol representing Puerto Vallarta. The
cupola on the top is a replica of the crown
that was used by Empress Carlota in 1860.

The Malecon |
|
|
Alive with
action day and night, the malecon is the
boardwalk which stretches from the Hotel
Rosita now all the way to Playa Los Muertos.
It is the perfect place to see some sights
and people watch. Sundays are the busiest
with dancing in the square, art shows and
a multitude of other performances. The perfect
place to go for an evening stroll.

Los Arcos |

Just outside
the city on the way to Mismaloya, Los Arcos
is a protect marine preserve. The 3 giant
rock formations are known as Los Arcos (the
arches) Los Arcos is a favorite for snorkeling
and scuba diving and is home to some of
the deepest parts of the bay.

Marina Vallarta |
|
|
A city
within a city, the marina is home to immense
hotels and resorts, a shopping centre, golf
couse, and a full service marina. Most sea
excursions leave from the marina and you
will almost always see a cruise ship docked.
Dont forget to go and taste some terrific
tequila at Campo
Azul while you are in the marina.

The Beach |

Marieta Islands |
|
|
The Marietas
are home to a marine bird sanctuary and
many dolphins and giant manatees. The beautiful
islands are ripe with caves and underwater
tunnels. It is a popular scuba diving and
snorkeling spot. Since it is reserved land,
there is no fishing or hunting permitted.
